President Ashraf Ghani resigns, Taliban to form new government in Afghanistan

Taliban leader Mullah Baradar will be the new president, local sources reported.

Afghan president resigned after the Taliban peacefully entered Kabul to lead a transitional government.

The Taliban forces militarily took over control of all provinces in Afghanistan with the exception of Kabul, the capital of Afghanistan.

Taliban members entered Kabul on Sunday and launched talks with members of the Afghan government at the Presidential Palace.

After the negotiations, President Ashraf Ghani conceded to step down as the Taliban seized power. A provisional government will now be established under the leadership of the Taliban.
