Prevent the situation spiraling out of control in Syria: UN Secretary-General

United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres called the five permanent members of the UN Security Council, to "Prevent the situation spiraling out of control".

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres said he called the ambassadors of the UN Security Council's veto-wielding powers late on April 11, the United States, Britain, France, Russia, and China to reiterate his deep concern about the risks of the current impasse.

The UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres said he "stressed the need to avoid the situation spiraling out of control."

“I have also been closely following developments in the Security Council and regret that the Council has so far been unable to reach agreement on this issue,” Guterres said in a statement, referring to members the United States, Russia, China, France and Britain.
