Having an interview with ILKHA's corresponded to mark the 94th martyrdom of Sheikh Said and his friends, HUDA PAR Vice President Hüseyin Yılmaz said: "the official history shaped by Kemalist ideology and the 'rebel' character rendered in textbooks in schools over the years must be removed."
"The Republican regime ignored Islam at the time because it was founded on a policy of denial," Yılmaz said added that there was a "standing up" that happened as a result of the bans being made during the Republican era.
"The Republican regime ignored all the peoples except Turkism. At this point, whoever opposes the regime, were massacred by the hands of Independence courts," he said.
"At that time, especially with the effect of abolishing the Islamic rule and the caliphate, popularization of Turkism and denial of other ethnic identities, revolts took place all over Turkey and disturbances were expressed.
Sheikh Said had to engage in "a standing" up when he saw that the voiced disturbances, warnings, and advice had not been listening by the regime. The standing up was suppressed by shedding so much blood, indeed it was a massacre.
It was the system, the regime itself that forced Sheikh Said and his friends to have "a standing" up action. The regime had forced those people to "a standing" up because there was no other way left. They were wrongfully executed.
"Revealing the burial places of Sheikh Said and his friends is the request of the Kurdish people"
The state should apologize to the Muslim Kurdish People for all the atrocities in that period, he said. "It is the request of all Kurd people and Muslims to reveal and locate the burial places of Sheikh Said and his friends, and this desire has been voiced for years."
"The state owes an apology to the Muslim Kurdish People for all the atrocities during the period of the CHP's 'national chief' [Ismet İnönü] in power. The state should reveal the burial places of Sheikh Said and his friends as a prerequisite for the fulfillment of this apology."
