Refugee boat capsizes in Meriç River

The refugees' boat, who wanted to go to Greece cross over the Meriç River, was capsized, 10 people missing in the river.

The refugees' boat, including women and children, who wanted to cross over the Meriç River, which forms the border between Edirne and Greece, capsized.

Early in the morning hours on Tuesday, a border-troop heard the scream of a woman and informed AFAD [Provincial Disaster and Emergency Directorate] Edirne teams for the incident.

In the Meriç River, searches made with Zodyak boats, a boot and some clothing items belong to refugees found in the river.

Up until now, body of a child of 10-years-old has reached in the search for refugees, who seem to have gone adrift in the river. The lifeless body of the young child was removed for the autopsy.
