Russia and Iran to support for Idlib operation

Russia and Iran have supported the planned land operation of the Syrian regime against the armed opposition in Idlib.

Before the summit, Turkiye, Russia, and Syria planned to be held in Tehran on Friday with the participation of leaders, Tehran and Moscow remark their support to Damascus administration for the land preparatory operations against Idlib.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said that the situation in Idlib, where under control of the armed oppositions, couldn't be tolerated forever. According to the Russian Interfax news agency, Lavrov noted that the Syrian regime had every right to dismantle the north of Idlib from armed oppositions.

Iranian Foreign Minister Javad Zarif made a visit to Damascus on Monday. Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Bahram Qasimi stated that the Iranian FM, who went to Damascus, will hold meetings with officials. "Iran will continue to support Syrian regime and their efforts to remove terrorists from their territories. The planned Idlib operations will continue to help the consultative role of Iran and its support to the Syrian regime."

Regarding the tripartite summit to be held on Friday, the Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Qasimi said, "I believe this view will be constructive and successful for the region, the Syrian people and the fight against terrorism."
