“Despite 107 years that have passed, Çanakkale Victory still represents the most important struggle of Islamic Ummah against crusader alliance. With this resistance, the Islamic Ummah, along with all its differences and affiliations, has defended the Islamic land and the values as a whole. This victory has proved that the Ummah can make history again if it retains unity among them and acts in the line of the consciousness of being ummah,” Sağlam said.
Noting that the Çanakkale Victory was a glorious epic that revealed what Muslims were capable of sacrificing for the sake of their independence, dignity and to protect their values, despite the great impossibilities, Sağlam underlined that what made this victory possible was the consciousness of being ummah.
“It is everyone's duty to ensure a true understanding of the Çanakkale Victory”
Stating that the spirit of Çanakkale should be transferred to the new generations properly, Sağlam said: “Those who cannot understand this spirit of Çanakkale are trying to lock this struggle for the defense of the Ummah into a narrow framework by abstracting it from the consciousness of being the Ummah. It is everyone's duty to ensure a true understanding of the Çanakkale Victory.”
Sağlam concluded as follows: “I commemorate the anniversary of Çanakkale Victory, and remember with mercy and gratitude all our martyrs, and heroes on the occasion of March 18th Martyrs’ Day. May God bless their souls and may they rest in peace.”
