Reminding that the stability and peace in Libya could not be achieved yet although 9 years have passed since the overthrow of Muammar Gaddafi, Sağlam stated that the conflict should be brought to an end and that Libya should be stabilized as soon as possible.
Latest developments in Libya
Speaking about the latest developments in Libya Sağlam said: “The rich oil and gas reserves in Libya have turned Libyan territory into a political and military battlefield, while plunging the Libyan people into chaos, war, starvation, migration and destruction. The conflict must be brought to an end and Libya should be stabilized; the chaos should not continue any longer. Our geography cannot handle a second Syrian crisis. This would be disastrous for our region. This should never be allowed.”
Underlining that cooperation with the legitimate government will contribute to Libya's stability, Sağlam said: “Neighboring and regional countries must recognize the UN-backed government of National Accord. Cooperation between Turkey and the legitimate Libyan government and coordination between neighboring countries should be improved for the peace and stability of Libya. The country must be rid of foreign powers and mercenaries as soon as possible. For the solution of the crisis, political negotiation should be preferred, not armed conflict, and political unity should be ensured in the country.”
“Zionist occupation regime is not a legitimate state”
Sağlam pointed out that zionist regime occupies parts of the Palestinian territory every day and added: ”The Zionist regime declared recently that it would annex illegal settlements in the West Bank and maintain its dominance over the Jordan Valley. This step, which is a violation of all international laws, is only a small part of the persecution and injustices against the Palestinian people. The liberation of the Palestinian people by ending the occupation and tyranny is the duty of all humanity. Ismail Haniyya, the head of Hamas's Political Bureau, sent a message to the leaders of 40 Islamic countries, calling for urgent action against West Bank annexation plans and crimes against Jerusalem. In his message to the leaders, Haniyya called for a 'summit of Islamic and Arab countries' to be held against the crimes of the zionist occupation regime.”
“The Organization of Islamic Cooperation must implement a project that will liberate Jerusalem from the zionist occupation”
“The leaders of Islamic countries and all people of conscience should heed Haniyya's call and take the necessary steps to end this occupation and plunder that has been going on for 72 years. The Organization of Islamic Cooperation, which was founded in order to liberate Jerusalem, must urgently convene and implement a project that will end the occupation and liberate Jerusalem. Islamic countries should abandon the 'normalization steps’ with zionist occupation regime that would mean accepting the occupation and seeing the regime as legitimate,” Sağlam concluded.
