Sağlam:It is a crime against humanity to cause the spread of the pandemic in Gaza

In his weekly statement on foreign agenda, HÜDA PAR Chairman İshak Sağlam also underlined that the world needed Islamic economic models that prioritize social justice.

Reminding that coronavirus pandemic created a situation that also triggered the global economic crisis Sağlam said: ”Along with the resilience of health systems, it has also brought into question the model of capitalist economics that has evolved into the ideological argument of dominant global politics. At this point, the virus was not the main cause of the crisis, but perhaps a factor that revealed the expected system crisis. The fact that 99% of the world's wealth is controlled by 1% of the world's population has made it clear that the current system is not humane and moral. This situation was caused by the interest-based economic system, which preferred the method based on making money from money to production and employment.”

Pointing out many states have started printing unbacked money in order to cope with the recession, Sağlam stated: “Instead of keeping the current economic model, which is famous for exploitation and theft of labor, alive with dressing measures, the original models should be developed which aim at fair division and fair sharing with social justice and where labor and production will gain value instead of interest and annuity. Instead of pursuing the capitalist theories of the World Bank, the IMF and the World Trade Organization, which perpetuate the wheel of exploitation of the Western countries, Islamic countries should show the way of the salvation of all humanity by implementing the economic model of Islam that commands social justice.”

“The occupation regime is committing crimes against humanity”

Sağlam underlined that the open support of the West Bank's annexation plan by the United States leads to increased recklessness of the occupation regime.

“The occupation regime, which takes advantage of the chaos, political conflict and internal problems of the Islamic world, is getting ready to implement the betrayal plan with the support of the USA and other allies. The Zionist regime derives its greatest courage from the attitude of some Islamic countries' rulers who betray Islam and their countries. Islamic countries should cut all their relations with the occupation regime within the scope of normalization and take a serious and determined stance for the end of the occupation. In addition, serious steps must be taken to ensure political unity in Palestine.”

Sağlam went on to say: “It is inhuman practice that the occupation regime stops Covid-19 testing on samples sent from Gaza. It is a great crime against humanity to cause the spread of the epidemic in Gaza. For Gaza, which has been under the embargo for 14 years and struggling to fight epidemic disease with insufficient medical facilities, the Islamic world should act urgently and Palestinians should not be left to the mercilessness of the occupation regime. Bold steps should now be taken towards ending the blockade.

“The International Organizations are going through a humanity test”

Recalling that coronavirus pandemic, which has affected all the world, has also negatively affected Islamic countries, which are struggling with civil war, embargoes and economic crises, deepening the humanitarian plights, Sağlam added: “Organizations formed by Islamic countries such as the OIC, the Islamic Development Bank, the Gulf Cooperation Council and the Arab League remain passive in this process. Although the chaos in the war zones has continued during the pandemic, no steps have been taken for a ceasefire and no institutional presence has been put forward. However, no attempt has been made to improve the conditions of refugees, who try to live in very bad conditions, regarding health, food and humanitarian needs and to protect against the epidemic. The reasons for the existence of these organizations, which cannot reveal an asset despite their huge financial resources at the most needed time, have become controversial.”

Sağlam concluded as follows: “According to the latest report prepared by the UN, it was announced that the number of people starving worldwide due to the coronavirus pandemic will exceed 250 million by the end of this year. Unless urgent and rapid measures are taken, 75 million children will be negatively affected due to severe food insufficiency worldwide. It is seen that African and Asian countries such as Yemen, South Sudan, Somalia, Afghanistan, Syria, Palestine, whose sources have been exploited by the Western imperialists, are still exposed to poverty, hunger and misery. In order to prevent the humanitarian plights, first of all, international organizations should take action for permanent ceasefire in regions where there is civil war and occupation, and then a fund should be created for the regions affected by the crisis, led by economic institutions to overcome the crisis with minimum damage. Otherwise, disasters will grow even more.”
