State of emergency lifts in Sri Lanka

In Sri Lanka, the state of emergency declared after the attacks on Muslims was lifted.

In Sri Lanka, the state of emergency, which was declared on March 6 after Muslim homes and businesses were set on fire, was lifted.

About 300 people, including a leader of a Buddhist organization who organized attacks on Muslims, were taken into custody during the state of emergency.

Buddhists gangs set Muslim homes and businesses on fire after a buddhist man was attacked and died in a hospital where he was removed in Kandy region.

Following the attacks targeting Muslims in the country, state of emergency declared in the Kandy region since March 6.

Sri Lanka has about 75 percent most Buddhist Sinhalese of the population, while Muslims are about 9 percent in the country.
