Sudan appoints ambassador to US after more than two decades

“The US government approved the nomination of Nour Eddin Satti as an ambassador and plenipotentiary of the Republic of Sudan,” announced Sudanese foreign Ministry in a statement.

During the three-decade rule of Omar al-Bashir, relations between Sudan and the United States had been strained during the three-decade rule of Omar al-Bashir.

The U.S. imposed sanctions on Sudan and designated the country as a state sponsor of terrorism.

After Bashir's fall, however, Abdalla Hamdok, the prime minister of transitional administration in Sudan, visited Washington in December and the two countries agreed to exchange envoys.
