The first hajj group departs from Istanbul

In 2018, the first hajj group to go to Mecca with the organization of the Presidency of Religious Affairs departed from Turkiye's Istanbul.

The first hajj group, consist of 158 people, departed from Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen Airport in a program with the participation of deputy governor Mehmet Ali Özyiğit and  Istanbul Mufti Prof. Dr. Hasan Kamil Yılmaz and families of pilgrim candidates.

Mehmet Ali Özyiğit, a deputy Governor of Istanbul who made a speech in the program, stated that not everyone can go to Hajj and only those who are invited can go. Özyiğit also asked from pilgrim candidates to pray for the future of the country and the Islamic world.

Istanbul Provincial Muftis Dr. Hasan Kamil Yılmaz told journalists that the first group they sent will go first to Medina and then to Mecca after 10 days.
