The new airport to have a capacity of 200 million passengers

The new airport, which is the first with its size, infrastructure, security systems, and architecture, will have a capacity of 200 million passengers.

The first phase of Istanbul New Airport is inaugurated at a ceremony attended by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. Over 50 senior guests attended the opening ceremony in Istanbul.

At the airport, where there will be 5 departures and 5 landings, Turkish Airlines will conduct its first flight to Ankara on October 31, Antalya on November 31, Antalya on November 1, and Izmir on November 2. The first abroad flight will take place on November 1 to the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus [TRNC] and on November 8 to Azerbaijan.

In total, an investment of 6 billion euros was made to open the first phase of the airport, which was built on an area of 76.5 million square meters. Other stages of the airport will be completed by 2023 depending on the passenger increases.

Saatte 10 bin 800 bagaj işletme kabiliyeti olan 42 kilometre uzunluğundaki bagaj sistemiyle 13 check-in adasından toplanacak bagajlar uçaklara ve yolculara ulaşacak. Erken gelen bagajların depolanması için EBS (Erken Bavul Sistemi) devrede olacak. 

When the airport is completed, it will be the world's largest airport with its 6 independent runways, 500 aircraft capacity, 70,000 outside and indoor parking lots and an annual capacity of 200 million passengers. The main terminal building will be the world's largest terminal building under a single roof with 1 million 300 thousand square meters.

The security of the airport will be provided by 3,500 security guards and 9,000 cameras. Security will also be managed from the virtual tower located within the terminal.
