The US had never given heavy arms to YPG, nothing to take back: Tillerson

US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson ahead of his visit to Turkiye said, "The US had never given heavy arms to YPG and therefore there was nothing to take back."

US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson claimed on Thursday that the US has never given heavy arms to YPG, which the US has sent thousands of arms-loaded truck to PKK/YPG. Before his visit Turkiye, "The US has never given heavy arms to YPG and therefore there was nothing to take back. The main target with Turkiye is completely same," said Tillerson.

Holding a press conference in Lebanon before moving to Turkiye, Tillerson, on a question, he claimed that the US had not provided heavy arms to YPG and therefore there was nothing to take back he added. Tillerson also said that their main target is completely same with Turkiye.

Especially before the operation launched against Raqqa in the summer of 2017, the US had been providing weapons to SDF. Based on US officials in the American press, it was reported that weapons delivered to the SDF included heavy machine guns, engineering equipment, mortar guns, shoulder-fired weapons and ammunition, armored vehicles and bulldozers. In the statements made by the US administration, it was stated that the serial numbers of all the weapons were recorded.

In addition, the Pentagon has allocated $ 300 million from the 2019 budget for training and equipment of the YPG/PKK using the SDF name and $ 250 million for the border security forces.
