The People's Council and Criminal Tribunal for Mexican Public Security have announced the 50 most dangerous cities in the world.

17 cities from Brazil, 12 from Mexico, 5 from Venezuela, 3 from Colombia, 2 from Honduras, a city in El Salvador, Puerto Rico, and Guatemala were cities announced as the most dangerous cities in the world.

The city's population was ranked according to the number of murders in the list. After a dizzying rise in its homicide rate, the Mexican city of Los Cabos has been ranked as the world's most violent city in 2017 with the murder rate of 112 per 100,000 inhabitants said the report.

Caracas, Venezuela, ranked second, with a slightly lower rate of 111.19 murders per 100,000 inhabitants, followed by Acapulco, Mexico - with 106.63 - another of the 12 Mexican cities included in the annual ranking.
