There is no such thing as a martyr of democracy: President Erdoğan

"Morsi is one of the martyrs. However, from time to time, some people use the following expressions: the martyr of democracy. There is no such thing as a martyr of democracy," President Erdoğan said.

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan attended the funeral in absentia held at Fatih Mosque in Istanbul for Egypt’s first freely elected President Muhammed Morsi.

Speaking during the funeral, President Erdoğan stated that he does not believe that Muhammed Morsi died of natural causes, and noted that his body was not delivered to Morsi’s family.

Drawing attention to the fact that Morsi was the first freely elected President of Egypt, President Erdoğan noted that the West could not even tolerate it, and pointed to their silence.
