Following the resignation of President Nursultan Nazarbayev in Kazakhstan last March, the new election date was set to June 9.
People of Kazakhstan went to the polls on Sunday to elect the new president after the resignation of Nazarbayev, who served as president for 28 years.
7 people, including Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, who was designated as interim president after Nazarbayev, took part in the elections.
Nur Otan Party candidate and current interim President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev won the election with 70.13 percent of the current vote, while the turnout was at about 77 percent according to the national election commission.
