US President Donald Trump used a threatening language towards Turkiye via social media accounts. Trump's explanations attract reactions.
"Starting the long overdue pullout from Syria while hitting the little remaining ISIS territorial caliphate hard, and from many directions," said Trump while added that the U.S. will attack again from the existing nearby base if it reforms.
Twitting about a possible Turkiye's operation against PKK's branch in Syria, YPG, Trump said: "We will devastate Turkiye economically if they hit Kurds. Create a 20-mile safe zone."
In his tweet, Trump also warned Kurds not to provoke Turkiye. "Likewise, we do not want Kurds to provoke Turkiye."
Trump underlined that Russia, Iran, and Syria have been the biggest beneficiaries of the long-term U.S. policy of destroying DAESH in Syria.
"We also benefit but it is now time to bring our troops back home. Stop the ENDLESS WARS!" he added.
Reaction from Presidential Spokesman Kalın
After Trump's threat, Turkiye's Presidential Spokesman İbrahim Kalın also reacted on his social media account.
Responding to Trump's threat Kalın said that It is a fatal mistake to equate Syrian Kurds with the PKK, which is on the US terrorists' list, and its Syria branch PYD/YPG.
Turkiye fights against terrorists, not Kurds. We will protect Kurds and other Syrians against all terrorist threats," he underlined.
Warning the U.S., Kalın noted, "Terrorists can’t be your partners & allies. Turkey expects the US to honor our strategic partnership and doesn’t want it to be shadowed by terrorist propaganda."
Stating that there is no difference between DAESH, PKK, PYD and YPG, Kalın unscored that Turkiye will continue to fight against them all.
