Mardin Governor's Office announced that the trustees were appointed to Derik, Mazıdağı and Savur district municipalities.
"Due to the ongoing process of judicial proceedings, Mazıdağı Mayor Nalan Özaydın, Derik Mayor Mülkiye Esmez and Savur Mayor Gulistan Öncü have been suspended from their duties with the approval of the Ministry of Interior as a temporary measure in accordance with the article 27 of the Constitution, article 47 of the Municipal Law No. 5393," the Office said.
Turkish police arrested 4 HDP's mayors as part of investigations on Friday
HDP's Savur district Mayor Gulistan Öncü, Mazıdağı district Mayor Nalan Özaydın and Derik district Mayor Mülkiye Esmez and Suruc district mayor Hatice Cevik were taken into custody as part of the investigations Friday morning.
Taken in custody due to for links to the PKK, mayors were reportedly detained in accordance with the instructions of the Ministry of Interior.
