Turkey call on Greece to solve bilateral issues by sitting at table

Turkish Foreign Ministry spokesman Hami Aksoy responded a question regarding the news in the Greek press that Turkey has increased its military activities in the Aegean Sea and the Mediterranean before the EU Summit.

“The press reports in question are inaccurate. Quite to the contrary, it was Greece that continued her provocative and escalatory military activities by announcing that she will carry out 24 military operations in the Aegean Sea and Eastern Mediterranean with “11 NAVTEX” and “12 NOTAM” announcements since 20 October 2020,” Aksoy said.

Aksoy noted that Greece kept dialog channels closed also on military issues and prevented NATO Secretary-General’s de-confliction initiative from being carried out.

Reminding that Greece has not participated in the meetings planned to be held by NATO Military Authorities since 9 October 2020, Aksoy added: “Greece cannot solve her bilateral issues with Turkey by relying on others, but only by sitting at the table and through dialogue and cooperation with Turkey.”
