Turkey continues to provide training support for Libyan Army

Turkish Armed Forced are continuing to provide Forward Observer Training to the Libyan Armed Forces, Turkey’s Defense Ministry said in a statement on Wednesday.

“The TAF continues to provide support for Libya, which we have deeply rooted relations based on 500 years of common history. “Forward Observer Training” is being provided to the personnel of the Libyan Armed Forces as part of the Military Training, Cooperation & Consultancy Agmnt,” the Ministry tweeted.

Turkey supports the UN-recognized Government of National Accord (GNA) in Libya.

Military intervention was approved by the Grand National Assembly of Turkey on 2 January 2020, which passed a one-year mandate to deploy troops to Libya.

Following the approval of the mandate to send troops to Libya, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan stated that Turkish forces had begun to be deployed in the country on 5 January.
