Turkey: House sales decreases by 18.7% in November

In Turkey, house sales decreased by 18.7% in November 2020 compared to the same month of the previous year and hence, became 112 thousand 483, Turkish Statistical Institute said a statement on Tuesday.

For the house sales of November 2020, İstanbul had the highest share of house sales with 18.8% and 21 thousand 158 sold house. The followers of İstanbul were Ankara with 10 thousand 710 house sales and İzmir 6 thousand 574 house sales with the share of 9.5% and 5.8% respectively. The least house sold provinces were Ardahan with 15 house sales, Hakkari with 23 house sales and Bayburt with 78 house sales.

In November 2020, 24 thousand 450 ownership of the houses changed by mortgage sales

The mortgaged house sales throughout Turkey became 24 thousand 450 by decreasing 44.3% compared to the same month of the previous year. House sales with mortgage had a 21.7% share of all house sales in Turkey. İstanbul has the highest mortgage house sales in Turkey with 5 thousand 4 sales and with the share of 20.5%. The least mortgage house sales were realized in Hakkari with 1 house sales.

Ownership of 88 thousand 33 houses changed by other sales

Other house sales in Turkey became 88 thousand 33 by decreasing 6.8% compared to the same month of the previous year. In the other sales, İstanbul was the first province with 16 thousand 154 sales and 18.3% share. Other house sales had 76.3% share of all house sales in İstanbul. Ankara was the second province with 7 thousand 975 sales. Ankara was followed by İzmir with 4 thousand 898 sales. The least other house sales was realized in Ardahan with 9 house sales.

In house sales, 36 thousand 658 of houses were sold for the first time

First house sales in Turkey became 36 thousand 658 by decreasing 25.0% compared to the same month of the previous year. First house sales had 32.6% share of all house sales in Turkey. The most first house sales was in İstanbul with 6 thousand 177 sales. İstanbul was the first province in Turkey ranking that had most first house sales share with 16.9%. The followers of İstanbul were Ankara with 2 thousand 662 house sales and İzmir with a thousand 888 house sales.

Ownership of 75 thousand 825 houses changed by second hand sales

Second hand house sales in Turkey became 75 thousand 825 by decreasing 15.2% compared to the same month of the previous year. In the second hand sales, İstanbul was the first province with 14 thousand 981 sales and 19.8% share. Share of the second hand sales was 70.8% in İstanbul in total house sales. Ankara was the second province with 8 thousand 48 sales and Ankara was followed by İzmir with 4 thousand 686 sales.

Houses sales increased by 21.5% in January-November period

In the January-November period, a million 393 thousand 335 houses were sold and increased by 21.5% compared to the same period of the previous year. In the January-November period, sales of mortgaged houses was 558 thousand 706 and increased by 98.0%, and in other types of sales, it was 834 thousand 629 and decreased by 3.4%. Houses sold for the first time in this period was 432 thousand 842 decreasing by 0.8%. Second-hand house sales was 960 thousand 493 and also increased by 35.2%.

In November 2020, 4 thousand 962 houses were sold to foreigners

In house sales to foreigners became 4 thousand 962 by increasing 24.4% compared to the same month of the previous year. İstanbul was the first province with 2 thousand 443 sales in November 2020. The followers of İstanbul were Antalya with 893 house sales, Ankara with 297 house sales, Yalova with 182 house sales and Bursa with 174 house sales.

In January-November period, house sales to foreigners became 36 thousand 385 by decreasing 9.5% compared to the same period of the previous year.

Most house sales were made to Iraq citizens according to country nationalities

In November, Iraq citizens bought 876 houses from Turkey. The followers of Iraq were Iran with 860 house sales, Russia with 434 house sales, Afghanistan with 203 house sales and Kuwait with 202 house sales.
