Turkey is in talks with Russia about the return of 18 captured Syrian regime troops, Turkish Defense Minister Hulusi Akar said on Thursday.

18 people suspected of being Syrian government soldiers had been captured near the northeast Syrian town of Ras al Ayn, and Turkey was in talks with Russia about the issue, the Turkish Defense Ministry said, adding that that he had received instructions from Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on the matter.

Turkey-backed Syrian groups said they had captured an undisclosed number of Syrian army soldiers near Tel Hawa, in the Ras al Ain countryside.
