Turkey issues arrest warrants for 28 active-duty soldiers

Turkish prosecutors on Tuesday issued arrest warrants for 28 active-duty soldiers across the country over their alleged links to the FETO organization.

Turkish police launched simultaneous operations in 10 provinces after the Chief Prosecutor’s Office in Ankara, the capital of Turkey, issued arrest warrants for 28 suspects for allegedly being involved in FETÖ’s infiltration into the Turkish Armed Forces (TSK).

The arrest warrants were issued for the soldiers for allegedly having contact with the leading figures of the organization.

Since May 2016, the FETO organization has been classified as a terrorist organization by Turkey under the assigned names Fethullahist Terrorist Organization and Parallel State Structure.

After the failed coup attempt in 2016, the government of Turkey blamed the group for the coup and authorities have arrested thousands of soldiers and judges who have links to the organization.
