Turkey: Istanbul’s busiest street closed over coronavirus fears

Istiklal Street, one of the most famous avenues in Istanbul, has been closed due to a recent hike in the number of coronavirus cases in the city.

The street was temporarily closed due to a major influx of visitors, in an effort to contain the spread of the coronavirus pandemic.

The street, which is visited by nearly 3 million people in a single day over the course of weekends, was closed 4 days ago for the same reason.

Turkey has so far reported 2,879,390 coronavirus cases, with 29,489 deaths, and 2,701,076 recoveries.
