In the second estimation of 2021, production quantities of cereals and other crops will decrease by 12%, vegetables will decrease by 0.2%, while fruits, beverage, and spices crops will increase by 4.6% when compared with the previous year, according to the agency.
Production quantities in 2021 were estimated approximately as follows; 62.7 million tonnes for cereals and other crops, 31.1 million tonnes for vegetables, and 24.7 million tonnes for fruits, beverage, and spices crops.
It was estimated that cereals production will decrease in 2021 when compared with the previous year
It was estimated that in 2021 cereals production will decrease with a rate of 15% when compared with the previous year and approximately become 31.6 million tonnes.
It was estimated that wheat production will decrease by 13.9% to approximately become 17.7 million tonnes, maize production will not change and remain as 6.5 million tonnes, barley production will decrease by 30.7% and approximately become 5.8 million tonnes, rye production will decrease by 32.4% and become 200 thousand tonnes, oats production will decrease by 9.1% and become 286 thousand tonnes, when compared with the previous year.
In the pulses group, it was expected that a decrease will occur in chickpea by 24.6% and production become 475 thousand tonnes, dry beans will increase by 8% and become 302 thousand tonnes, red lentil will decrease by 30% and become 230 thousand tonnes and potatoes, one of tuber crops, will decrease by 1.9% and become 5.1 million tonnes.
In the group of oil seeds, it was expected that soybean production will increase with a rate of 16% and become 180 thousand tonnes, sunflower will increase by 15.6% and approximately become 2.4 million tonnes.
It was estimated that tobacco production will decrease by 7.7% and become 73 thousand tonnes, sugar beets production will decrease by 15.3% and become 19.5 million tonnes.
It was estimated that vegetable production will decrease in 2021 compared with the previous year
It was estimated that in 2021, vegetable production will decrease with a rate of 0.2% when compared with the previous year and approximately become 31.1 million tonnes.
When examining the production of subgroups of vegetables, root and tuberous vegetable production is expected to increase by 2.1%, production of other vegetables not elsewhere classified is expected to increase by 2.5%, while in vegetables cultivated for their fruits are expected to decrease with the rate of 0.8%.
The production of some important crops in vegetables; increments are expected in pepper (for processed, capia) production by 13.6%, in onion (dry) by 5.3%, in squash by 10.9% while decrements are expected as 2.9% in tomatoes, 1.6% in watermelon, 2% in cucumber.
It was estimated that fruits production will increase in 2021 when compared with the previous year
It was estimated that fruits, beverage, and spices crops production will be 24.7 million tonnes in 2021 increasing by 4.6% when compared with the previous year.
When examining productions of some important fruits, it was estimated that there will be a decrease in apple production by 0.3%, in grapes production by 12.8%, in cherries production by 6.8%, while will increase in peaches production by 1.1%, in strawberries production by 20.3%, in olive production by 35.4% when compared with the previous year.
In the citrus group, an increase is expected in mandarin production by 14.7%, in oranges production by 30.6%, in lemons production by 30.4%. From nuts, hazelnuts production is expected to increase by 2.9%, while pistachios production is expected to decrease by 59.7%.
It was estimated that bananas production will increase by 19.1%, while figs production will not change and remain at 320 thousand tonnes.
