Turkey’s death toll from coronavirus reaches 4,397

28 people have died from coronavirus pandemic in the last 24 hours in Turkey, rising the country’s death toll from the virus to 4,397, said Fahrettin Koca, Turkish Health Minister, on his Twitter account on Tuesday.

Turkey has so far reported 158,762 confirmed coronavirus cases, an increase of 948 cases in the last 24 hours.

121,507 patients suffering from the disease have fully recovered from the infection and been discharged from hospital.

While 739 patients are being treated in intensive care unit, there are some 338 patients who are mechanically ventilated. 

A total of 1,873,607 tests for coronavirus have so far been conducted in the country.

Meanwhile, a four-day nationwide lockdown that Turkey has imposed for the Eid al-Fitr will come to end at midnight on Tuesday.

Markets, grocery stores, greengrocers, and butchers were open from 10am to 5pm local time on May 23, but they have been closed from May 24 to 26. Bakeries remain open during the four-day lockdown.
