In the same month, compared to September 2019, while the index for fuels decreased by 38.7%, the index for food, beverages and tobacco, crude materials (except fuels) and manufactured goods (except food, beverages and tobacco) increased by 2.1%, 1.6% and 1.5%, respectively.
The overall export unit value index decreased by 0.2% in Quarter III 2020, compared to the corresponding quarter of the preceding year.
The overall export volume index increased by 5.4%
The overall export volume index compared to the corresponding month of the preceding year increased by 5.4% in September. Compared with September 2019, while the index for fuels decreased by 20.5%, the index for food, beverages and tobacco, crude materials (except fuels) and manufactured goods (except food, beverages and tobacco) increased by 2.6%, 19.5% and 7.8%, respectively.
The overall export volume index decreased by 1.7% in Quarter III 2020, compared to the corresponding quarter of the preceding year.
The overall import unit value index decreased by 2.1%
As compared with the corresponding month of the preceding year, the overall import unit value index decreased by 2.1% in September. While the index for food, beverages and tobacco, and manufactured goods (except food, beverages and tobacco) increased by 3.6% and 1.6%, respectively, the index for crude materials (except fuels) and fuels decreased by 8.1% and 29.5%, respectively.
The overall import unit value index decreased by 4.9% in Quarter III 2020, compared to the corresponding quarter of the preceding year.
The overall import volume index increased by 23.8%
In September, the overall import volume index compared to the corresponding month of the preceding year increased by 23.8%. While the index for food, beverages and tobacco decreased by 5.9%, the index for crude materials (except fuels), fuels and manufactured goods (except food, beverages and tobacco) increased by 16.2%, 10.8% and 16.7%, respectively.
The overall import volume index increased by 16.5% in Quarter III 2020, compared to the corresponding quarter of the preceding year.
The calendar and seasonally adjusted export volume index increased by 11.2%
The calendar and seasonally adjusted export volume index which was 151.3 in August 2020, increased by 11.2%, to 168.2 in September 2020. The calendar adjusted export volume index which was 168.5 in September 2019, increased by 1.7%, to 171.4 in September 2020.
The calendar and seasonally adjusted import volume index increased by 2.0%
The calendar and seasonally adjusted import volume index which was 143.8 in August 2020, increased by 2.0%, to 146.7 in September 2020. The calendar adjusted import volume index which was 122.0 in September 2019, increased by 21.5%, to 148.2 in September 2020.
Terms of trade is calculated by dividing the export unit value index by the import unit value index, then multiplying the result by 100. While terms of trade was 103.7 in September 2019, it increased by 2.3 points to 106.0 in September 2020.
Terms of trade increased by 5.1 points to 108.7 in Quarter III 2020, compared to the corresponding quarter of the preceding year.
