Turkish Foreign Ministry condemns attacks in Afghanistan and Nigeria

Turkish State Department condemned the bombings in Kabul, Afghanistan's capital, and the attacks on a funeral in Maiduguri state in Nigeria's northeast.

"We received the news with sorrow that a terror attack which took place at an election campaign office in Kabul, capital of Afghanistan resulted in a loss of at least 20 lives and left many others wounded, including a vice-presidential candidate," the statement said.

"We strongly condemn this heinous terror attack, which targeted the democratic rights of Afghan people. We wish Allah’s mercy upon who lost their lives and wish a speedy recovery to the wounded and convey our condolences to the brotherly Afghan people and Government.

We hope that the presidential election process in Afghanistan will be conducted in a peaceful and secure environment."

"We are saddened by the suicide attack on a funeral gathering that took place in Nigeria’s north-eastern Maiduguri State, claiming many lives and leaving several people injured.

We condemn this heinous attack, wish Allah’s mercy upon those who lost their lives, speedy recovery to the wounded and offer our condolences to the people and Government of Nigeria."
