Turkish police seize 9,5 kg of heroin in eastern Turkey

One suspect was arrested on charges of drug trafficking in Turkey’s eastern Van province on Monday.

A total of 9,5 kg of heroin was seized during a search in a shop, the Provincial Police Department said in a statement.

One suspected drug dealer was arrested, according to the statement.

Turkey maintains strict laws against the use, possession or trafficking of illegal drugs. If convicted under these offences, one could receive a heavy fine or a prison sentence of 4 to 24 years.
