Ministry of Foreign Affairs Spokesman Hami Aksoy responded to a question on the claim of US Department of State Spokeswoman Heater Nauert that US citizen Serkan Gölge, was convicted of insufficient evidence, who was arrested to be a member of FETO.
"We expect our US counterparts to respect the decisions of independent Turkish courts"
"Serkan Gölge, a Turkish national, was tried before independent Turkish court and was convicted following a fair trial. It is not possible to take seriously the biased remarks as to the Turkish judiciary from the U.S. State Department Spokesperson who does not have the knowledge of case's substance and the evidence used within this case. Turkish judiciary does not make indictments depending on the wishes of others or interventions by third parties, but decides on the basis of the Turkish Constitution, relevant laws and the collected evidence. We expect our counterparts in the U.S. to respect the decisions of the independent Turkish courts," said Aksoy.
