Turkiye requests Saudis to extradite 18 suspects

The Ministry of Justice has asked Saudi Arabia to extradite 18 suspects about the murder of journalist Jamal Khashoggi.

The Ministry of Justice said 18 suspects involved in the murder of journalist Jamal Khashoggi were requested to be extradited from Saudi Arabia to be tried in Turkiye.

The Ministry of Justice said:

"The Istanbul Public Prosecutor's Office, which is conducting the investigation of journalist Jamal Khashoggi, issued a petition from the kingdom of Saudi Arabia for the purpose of extradition of 18 suspects who were involved in the "deliberate killing by monstrously and afflictively" crime, to our country in order to be prosecuted," said the Minister of Justice Abdulhamit Gül.

On the same day, the prosecutor's office, which was held on 26 October 2018, was transferred to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to be sent to the relevant country.

"The request of the Prosecutor's Office, which was held on 26 October 2018 and came to our Ministry, was forwarded to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on the same day to be sent to the relevant country, said Ministry of Justice.
