Turkstat announces inflation figures for March

The CPI in Turkiye rose 1.03 percent in March while annual inflation observed as 19.71 percent.

A rise in the general index was realized in CPI (2003=100) on the previous month by 1.03%, on December of the previous year by 2.27%, on the same month of the previous year by 19.71% and on the twelve months moving averages basis by 18.70% in March 2019.

In March 2019, the indices rose for food and non-alcoholic beverages 2.44%, for education 1.45%, for transportation 0.75% and for hotels, cafes and restaurants 0.67%.

In March 2019, the indices declined only for communication amongst the main groups by 0.29%.

Miscellaneous goods and services with 27.94%, furnishing, and household equipment with 26.98%, recreation and culture with 20.08% and health with 19.72% were the other main groups where high annual increases realized.

A rise in CPI excluding unprocessed food, energy, alcoholic beverages, tobacco and gold was realized in CPI (2003=100) on the previous month by 0.28%, on December of the previous year by 0.31%, on same month of the previous year by 17.72% and on the twelve months moving averages basis by 18.15% in March 2019.In March 2019 within average prices of 418 items in the index, average prices of 33 items remained unchanged while average prices of 270 items increased and average prices of 115 items decreased.
