TurkStat releases inflation figures

Inflation announced in Turkiye as 9.77 percent in July compared to December of the previous year and 15.85 percent compared to the same month of the previous year.

Turkiye Statistical Institute [Turkstat] announced inflation figures for the month of July of 2018. Accordingly, consumer inflation fell to 0.55 percent in July, below expectations.

An increase of 0.55 percent recorded compared to July of the previous month, an increase of 9.77 percent compared to December of the previous year, 15.85 percent increase compared to the same month of the previous year and an increase of 12 percent over the twelve months average have been recorded in Turkiye in consumer price index.

As for the main spending groups, the increase was 1.82 percent in household goods, 1.62 percent in entertainment and culture, 1.20 percent in health and 1.10 percent in house prices in July 2018.

As for main expenditure groups, food and non-alcoholic beverages decreased by 0.28 percent and by 0.11 percent, respectively, compared to the same period in July 2018.

According to the same month of the previous year, the main consumer expenditure groups in the consumer price index were household goods with 20.32 percent, food and non-alcoholic beverages with 19.40 percent, miscellaneous goods and services with 17.24 percent, and restaurants and hotels with 13.86 percent.
