TurkStat shares its calculation for the minimum wage in Turkey

The Turkish Statistical Institute (TurkStat) revealed its calculation for the minimum wage on Tuesday.

TurkStat findings is important for setting the basis for the ongoing bargaining between the government, trade unions and employer unions at the Minimum Wage Determination Commission

Turkstat shared its average findings as 2,792 Turkish liras ($366) for heavy-duty-status jobs, TL 2,507 ($328) for medium-status jobs and TL 2,339 ($310) for light-status jobs.

The current minimum wage is TL 2.324 ($304) as net pay in Turkey.

Turkey’s Minimum Wage Determination Commission held its first meeting on December 4, under the presidency of Zehra Zümrüt Selçuk, Minister of Family, Labour and Social Services via video conference due to the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak.

The commission will convene next week for the last time to determine the minimum wage for 2021.
