Villagers at the Syrian border speak to ILKHA

Villagers live in the foothills of the Darmik Mount near Syrian Afrin spoke to ILKHA about what they have experimented.

The Afrin operation launched by Turkish Armed Forces [TAF] continues on the 14th day. Shelling against the PKK positions in Mt. Darmik, located between Syria's Afrin and Kilis' Gülbaba village, continue under the intense fog.

The villagers, who said that shelling against the PKK positions unceasingly continued, reported that the small Darmik mountain, opposite of their village, was captured by Turkish Army and the larger Darmik mountain is being bombed day and night.

"They want to tear down here like they did on the other side of the border"

Halil Çelik, one of the village residents, said, "They [TAF] are trying to clear the minefield. They took a village at the above of our village and cleared it. There are many caves there. They are shooting at the PKK positions in these places. They hit the tops with the airplanes. Shelling is not one day, it is every day."

Rüstem Yıldırım, who stated that the bombs' sound was constantly rising, stated that they witnessed everything as a nation and said, "We want this event to be solved and to finish."

Stating that the US wants to tear Turkiye down, Yıldırım continued: "They have shattered Iraq. Syria is same. The US tries to tear here down how they did on the other side of the border. If they did not trust the US, if the US did not give them weapons, today we would not be in this situation. America comes from a distance of 12-13 thousand kilometers, set at odds here. It makes us fight each other here. America itself may not be here in fact, but the proxies are here and we know who those proxies are."
