Watch out for the "sponsored" scams on Twitter!

The last game of scammers trying to cheat people in various ways is "sponsored" ads on Twitter.

The use of the internet and social media, which is an important place in everyday life with developing technology, has become one of the indispensable areas for people.

According to the data of the United Nations Population Fund, the world's population increased to 7 billion 593 million in January 2018.

According to the research results; 4 billion 200 thousand people, which is 53 percent of the world's population, are using the internet. The number of social media users increased to 3 billion 200 million in 2018.

The scam's latest tactic "sponsored" ads

The interest and use of "social media and internet" have whetted scammers' appetite in that direction. The last game of scammers trying to defraud people with various methods is "sponsored" ads shared on Twitter.

These kind of "sponsored" ads shared on Twitter are preparing with remarkable images including banks' names and logos to attract social media users' attention.

In this type of "sponsored" ads shared on Twitter, there are many gift options available such as cars, computers, cell phones, and free internet.

"Identity information should never be shared"

Experts of the issue warned that such links shared in social media should not be clicked and underlined that banks, credit card, and identity information should never be shared.

According to experts, the use of an up-to-date anti-virus program and firewall on phones, tablets, and computers too important that will prevent these pages from opening and eliminate such grievances.

Experts say that checking whether the bank accounts of such companies are "approved accounts" [blue tick next to user accounts] can also prevent the victimization.

Turkish Interior Minister Soylu warns via social media account

On the other hand, Turkish Interior Minister Süleyman Soylu warned citizens to be careful about the "sponsored" ads of scammers and slammed the security policy of Twitter.

"I ask our citizens to be careful about Twitter's 'disappointed' ad-moderation and fraudulent profiles, which are far from providing user security," posted Turkish Interior Minister Süleyman Soylu on Twitter.

Twitter irresponsibility

According to research, Facebook's total number of users 2 billion 167 million, YouTube 1.5 billion, Instagram 800 million, Tumblr 794 million, Twitter 330 million.
