We assured YPG of France' support: Macron

French President Macron stated on Thursday assured the YPG of Paris' support and can mediate between SDF and Turkiye.

"We assured the SDF of France’s support for the stabilization of the security zone in the north-east of Syria.  We can mediate between SDF and Turkiye," said President Emmanuel Macron of France.

Macron met earlier with a delegation from some Syrian groups at the Elysée Palace, including SDG (Syrian Democratic Forces/PKK/YPG) representatives.

However, it said in the statement after the meeting that Macron was offering to mediate between Turkiye and SDF.

Speaking to Reuters a representative of PKK/YPG said that France promised to send troops to Manbij to support the SDF.

In the interview, it was stated that the former PYD Co-Chairperson Asia Abdullah, as well as the PKK's Women's Defense Unions (YPJ) Spokesman Nesrin Abdullah, took part.
