President and AK Party Chairman Recep Tayyip Erdoğan delivered a speech at the parliamentary group meeting of the Justice and Development [AK] Party.
Underlining that Turkiye’s fight in the economic sphere is a national cause, President Erdoğan said: "Everyone who feels himself to be a member of our nation must support this fight."
"We, indeed, have been supported by circles with a national and indigenous standing regardless of their political view," he noted.
Recalling that they paid up Turkiye’s debt to the IMF while also making huge investments in the country after they came into power. "Turkiye has closed the book on the IMF in May of 2013 and will never open it again," he said.
"Even talking about such a path which would downgrade us back to the level of African, Asian and South American countries is a betrayal to Turkiye," President said.
"The hallmark of Turkiye’s stance is that it stands with what is right and conscionable, with justice at all times and in all places. We have stood with justice and the righteous in Syria, Iraq, Libya, Palestine, Arakan, Turkistan, the Balkans, and Africa," President Erdoğan underscored.
"Turkiye has the means and capabilities, the courage, unity and solidarity, the political, diplomatic military and economic power to display such a stance."
Pointing to the historic transformation in the region and the world, President Erdoğan highlighted that Syria is the most critical point in this transformation, and said: "If the plans over Syria can be put into action, the next targets’ time, in this massive transformation, will come. And there is no doubt that Turkiye is one of those targets."
"We cannot accept a world where might makes right"
Regarding the developments about Venezuela, President Erdoğan underscored that an elected leader cannot be driven away and an unelected person cannot be given the presidency of the state.
"This process has revealed what the European Union truly is," President Erdoğan said, and added: "We cannot accept a world where might makes right."
"The east of the Euphrates and Manbij are the most important topics of our Syria agenda"
"Turkiye respects Syria’s territorial integrity, political unity and the Syrian people’s right to determine their own future. Therefore, we sincerely support a new constitution and free elections," President Erdoğan said.
"The only places in Syria where people truly live in peace and safety are the areas under Turkiye’s control," President Erdoğan said.
Noting that Syrian refugees have begun to return to the zones under Turkiye’s control, President Erdoğan said: "Other areas still suffer from the oppression and atrocities of terrorist organizations and the regime which does not inspire confidence in its people."
President Erdoğan continued his speech as follows: "The east of the Euphrates and Manbij are the most important topics of our Syria agenda. We cannot accept any proposal other than a safe zone model under Turkiye’s control, to which other countries only provide logistical support. Given the fact that no safe zone, established by international forces have been successful or brought lasting peace, we look for ulterior motives in being imposed the same formula."
"If the terrorists in Manbij are not gone in a few weeks, our waiting will come to its end"
"We expect the U.S. to fulfill its promises to Turkiye with regard to Manbij," President Erdoğan said.
"If the U.S. does not keep her promises and clear the region of terrorists, contribute to the establishment of a safe zone under Turkiye’s control, we will take the matter into our own hands," Erdoğan warned.
"Surely, we are loyal to our agreements. Our word is our bond. However, our patience has a limit. If the terrorists in Manbij are not gone in a few weeks, our waiting will come to its end."
Stating that if the people in the region are not enabled to establish their own administration east of the Euphrates with Turkiye’s support, Erdoğan underlined that Turkiye waiting will come to its end. "In that case, Turkiye will have kept its word but it will have gone unreciprocated."
