We faced the biggest natural disaster in recent years in Adana: the provincial governor

Mahmut Demirtaş, the governor of the Adana province in southern Turkey, said on Wednesday that Adana saw more precipitation in 2018 than in over a half-century.

"According to the official figures, the highest rainfall in recent years hit Adana since Sunday," the governor explained.

Underlining that the crisis center is making decisions fast, Demirtaş said: "Both the value of the damages in agricultural areas and the damage in homes are being assessing. Especially if there is a damage to the goods used by our citizens, it will be also determined."

Four central districts of Adana received around 250 kilograms per square meter of precipitation, the official figures said.
