Weapons missing on July 15 are being south: Minister Canikli

Some weapons belonging to the Turkish Armed Forces [TAF] went missing during the coup, attempted by junta structure in Turkiye, are now being searched for, Turkish Defense Minister Nurettin Canikli said in a statement.

Defense Minister Nurettin Canikli said some weapons in the Turkish military's inventory were missing since the July 15, 2016, coup attempt and "the search for the missing weapons were ongoing across the country," he added.

Minister Canikli, who did not give information on the amount and type of weapons, stated that weapons and ammunition are in the search throughout the country by making entries into the lost-stolen search systems of the Turkish Armed Forces and the Ministry of Interior.

"The missing weapons-ammunition list is kept up-to-date, compared with weapons-ammunition seized in all the countries, and the serial- lot numbers are included in the matching materials inventory," he said.
