World Halal Summit started with the recitation of verses from Qur'an

6th OIC Halal Expo and World Halal Summit started with the participation of local and foreign stakeholders and visitors at the Eurasia show and Arts Center in Yenikapı, Istanbul.

Under the auspices of the Presidency of the Republic of Turkiye and in accordance with the resolution adopted by the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and the 33rd Ministerial Session of the Standing Committee for Economic and Commercial Cooperation of the OIC (COMCEC), the 6th OIC Halal Expo and the World Halal Summit 2018, has started at the Eurasia Show and Art Center, in Istanbul.

The opening of the summit, which started with the recitation of the verses from the Holy Qur'an, following the sand art performance and speeches.

More than 250 national and international, domestic and foreign companies from many sectors such as halal food, finance, tourism, cosmetics, medicine, chemistry, packaging, machinery, and textile are participating in the Halal Expo. The number of international participant countries is increasing every year and 40% of Halal Expo is foreign participants.

Participating countries include Afghanistan, Jordan, Albania, Indonesia, Iran, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Croatia, Algeria, Morocco, Palestine, Qatar, Lebanon, Kosovo, Malaysia, Nigeria, Libya, Spain, India, South Korea, Belgium, Netherlands, Austria, France, England, Thailand, and Saudi Arabia.

At the opening ceremony, Turkish Deputy Minister of Treasury and Finance and Turkish Deputy Minister of Commerce and the sponsors were presented with a plaque in memory of the day, while Yusuf Islam was awarded the World Halal Summit Peace Prize.

World Halal Summit will continue with session and panels until December 2.
