Yemen's truce to be implemented on December 18

An official from the Ansar Allah movement told the UN's special envoy to Yemen that the cease-fire in Hodeidah would take effect on December 18.

The date was announced by Muhammad Ali Al- Houthi, leader of rebels in Yemen, through his twitter account.

Al Houthi stressed that they expect the US, Saudi Arabia, and UAE to abide by the Hodeidah truce and that this agreement would be the beginning of ending the occupation.

On the other hand, one of the senior officials of the Ansar Allah movement told Al Jazeera television channel that the president of the National Liberation Government gives a letter to the UN special envoy sent to Yemen and that the letter includes the promise of the Hodeidah cease-fire agreement to be implemented on December 18.

The deal on the city of Hodeidah and its strategic port as well as on the reduction of tensions in the city of Taiz was discussed in the fourth round of talks between the Yemeni parties in Stockholm, Sweden.

However, the negotiations failed to reach agreement on the opening of the Sanaa airport, the economic crisis, cease-fire, the opening of transitions in various provinces to ensure humanitarian aid, and other cases, including the political framework for resolving the Yemen crisis. It was decided to hold the second round of negotiations scheduled for the end of January.
