World famous physicist, astronomer, theoretician, and writer Prof. Dr. Stephen Hawking was said to have died on the morning of Wednesday at his home in Cambridge.

"We are deeply saddened that our beloved father passed away today," said children of 76-year-old British scientist.

British physicist, astronomer, theoretician and author Dr. Stephen Hawking was born on January 8, 1942, in Oxford, England. Hawking trained at the college of the University of Oxford, the former college of his father, who was interested in medicine, where he studied physics.

Hawking, known for his scientific work and defining himself as an atheist, has been infected with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) when he was 21-year-old. Due to this disease, which paralyzes the nervous system but does not affect the mental activities of the brain, Hawking ended up living in the wheelchair.
