Tension climbs between the US and Venezuela
US President Donald Trump announced that he recognized Juan Guido, President of the National Assembly of Venezuela, as the "interim president of the country".
In a written statement, US President Donald Trump said that he recognized Venezuelan National Assembly President Juan Guido as the country's "interim president".
Twitting that the citizens of Venezuela have suffered for too long at the hands of the illegitimate Maduro regime, "Today, I have officially recognized the President of the Venezuelan National Assembly, Juan Guido, as the Interim President of Venezuela," Trump said on Wednesday.
Maduro: We cut all our relations with the US
Responding the Trump recognizes President of National Assembly Juan Guido as "interim president", Nicolas Maduro, President of Venezuela announced that they cut off all political and diplomatic relations with the United States.
Describing Trump's statement as a 'coup' to the legitimate government in the country, Maduro asked all US diplomats to leave the country within 72 hours.
Maduro, in his earlier statements, said the United States began preparations for a coup in the country.
