The US to form 30,000-strong 'border army' in Syria
The US announced that a "border army" would be formed in Syria under the command of PYD/YPG consist of 30,000-strong.
The US-led coalition announced that the "Syrian Border Force" will be formed under the PYD/YPG command in Syria.
According to Reuters, the coalition office of the People's Relations office has announced that a new formation to be set up is aimed at forming 30,000 people. 'Syrian Border Secure Force' was stated that to control borders with Turkiye and Iraq.
Colonel Ryan Dillon, the spokesperson for the coalition, said Iraqi security forces and the SDF had linked up at their shared stretch of the frontier on Sunday.
“More Kurds will serve in the areas in northern Syria. More Arabs will serve in areas along the Euphrates River Valley and along the border with Iraq to the south,” the coalition’s Public Affairs Office said.
"Turkiye, as a member of the Coalition was not consulted with regard to the establishment of the so-called “Syrian Border Security Force,” read the statement made by Turkish Foreign Ministry.
"It is also unknown by the approval of which Coalition members this decision was taken. Announcing unilateral steps by attributing it to the Coalition is an utterly wrong move that can also harm the fight against DEASH. Such initiatives endangering our national security and Syria’s territorial integrity through the continuation of cooperation with PYD/YPG in contradiction with the commitments and statements made by the US are unacceptable. We condemn the insistence on this flawed approach and remind once again that Turkey is determined and capable to eliminate any threats targeting its territory," the statement also read.
