Trump describes military intervention against Iran as the ultimate option
"We'll be adding some very significant sanctions onto Iran," Trump told reporters Wednesday in San Diego, adding military intervention is an ultimate option.
Although Iran has denied the accusations, US President Donald Trump has announced that additional sanctions will be imposed on the Tehran administration, which the Saudi regime blames for the attack on its oil facilities.
Trump, who said he had instructed Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin to implement further aggravated sanctions on Iran, added they would announce the new sanctions within 48 hours.
Trump said he has many options and that he hopes to avoid the ultimate option of going to war with Iran.
"There’s the ultimate option and there are options that are a lot less than that," he said during a press conference at Los Angeles International Airport accompanied with his fresh National Security Adviser, Robert O'Brien.
"There are many options. There’s the ultimate option and there are options that are a lot less than that. And we’ll see. I’m saying the ultimate option meaning go in — war."
Asked about whether there would also be military intervention in Iran, Trump said, "We'll see what happens. If we have to do something, we will do it."
