Turkey-Russia begin fifth joint patrols in northern Syria, Turkish Defense Ministry says
Turkey and Russia on Tuesday began their fifth joint patrols in northern Syria east of the Euphrates river, Turkish Defense Ministry said in a statement on Twitter.
"The fifth Turkish-Russian joint land patrol conducted in the Ayn al-Arab region east of the Euphrates is continuing with due care and diligence for the safety of both civilians and our military personnel despite provocation by PKK/YPG members, "the statement said.
According to the agreement between Ankara and Moscow, the patrols should conduct within a depth of up to 10 km inside Syrian territory east and west of the area under Turkey's exclusive control, or 120 km of border between Tal Abyad and Ras al Ayn.
