Turkey's consumer confidence index in services sectors rises by 1.5% in September

Confidence index increased in services and retail trade sectors while decreased in construction sector, the Turkish Statistical Institute said in a statement on Friday.

Seasonally adjusted confidence index increased by 1.5% in services and 4.8% in retail trade sectors while decreased 0.7% in construction sector in September compared to August, according to the statement.

Services confidence index realized as 117.8

Seasonally adjusted confidence index which was 116.1 for services in August increased by 1.5% in September to 117.8. In services sector compared to the previous month, business situation over past three months sub-index increased by 3.5% to 120.1. Demand-turnover over past three months sub-index increased by 2.1% to 115.4 and demand-turnover expectation over next three months sub-index decreased by 1.1% to 117.9.

Retail trade confidence index realized as 115.6

Seasonally adjusted retail trade confidence index increased by 4.8% in September to 115.6. In retail trade sector compared to the previous month, business activity-sales over past three months sub-index increased by 3.8% to 125.9. Current volume of stock sub-index increased by 5.8% to 90.7 and business activity-sales expectation over next three months sub-index increased by 5.0% to 130.1.

Construction confidence index realized as 91.8

Seasonally adjusted construction confidence index which was 92.4 in August decreased by 0.7% in September to 91.8. In construction sector compared to the previous month, current overall order books sub-index became 83.1 by increasing 0.04%. Total employment expectation over next three months sub-index decreased by 1.3% to 100.5.

In construction sector, 43.1% of the enterprises indicated at least one factor limiting their activities while 56.9% of the enterprises indicated none in September. Among the main factors limiting activities in construction sector; "financial constraints" which was 30.5% in August realized as 25.7% in September, "insufficient demand" which was 24.6% in August realized as 22.2% in September and "other factors" which was 21.0% in August realized as 18.3% in September.
