Turkish official refers to intense coordination with U.S. on Baghdadi operation
There was an intense dialogue between our military authorities on the night of the operation, Turkey’s presidential spokesman said on Monday.
Turkey’s military was in intense coordination with U.S. officials on the night that U.S. special forces carried out a mission to kill Islamic State leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi in northwest Syria, Turkey's presidential spokesman Ibrahim Kalin told reporters.
“Our military and intelligence units were in contact with their American counterparts on this issue and they coordinated. Especially the night when the operation was conducted, we can say there was intense diplomacy between our military authorities,” İbrahim Kalin said.
Daesh/ISIS has conducted numerous attacks in Turkey, including in 10 suicide bombings, seven bombings, and four armed attacks.
315 people killed, including 11 police officers and two soldiers -- and injured 137 civilians, 62 police officers and seven soldiers in these attacks.
