Twelve killed, scores injured in anti-government demonstrations in Iraq

The Iraqi government has stopped access to social media in the country. Internet access in the capital Baghdad and some provinces has been completely cut off.
The Iraqi Defense Ministry has put all its units on alert to protect public institutions and diplomatic agencies.
Seven people were killed alone in Zikar province and 112 others injured in the demonstrations.
Treatment of those who were found to be life-threatening among the injured was continuing. Witnesses said security forces used live bullets to disperse demonstrators who had gathered inside and in front of the Zikar Provincial Assembly.
The death toll has risen to 12 in three days of demonstrations across the country while hundreds were also injured.
